The IMET project is funded by SESAR Joint Undertaking (SJU), the Community Body established under Article 187 of the Treaty of the European Union. The mission of SESAR Joint Undertaking is to develop a modernised air traffic management system for Europe. This future system will ensure the safety and fluidity of air transport over the next thirty years, will make flying more environmentally friendly and reduce the costs of air traffic management. IMET is part of the SJU Work Package E “SESAR Long Term and Innovative Research”. The project kicked off April 2013, and will run for thirty months.
